Dear parent(s) and guardian(s),
Thank you for a wonderful week of school. Please see our school website for the most up-to-date information: https://lordbeaverbrook.cbe.ab.ca/
General School Updates
- Planning is already well underway for next year, if your student is planning to attend another school for the 2026/2027 year please send an e-mail to lordbeaverbrook@cbe.ab.ca so we can ensure an easy transition for your student.
- The 2025-2026 Yearbook is here! Students who have purchased can pick up their copy in the foyer with ID next week. Tuesday, June 2nd is Grade 12 pick up only, and then June 3rd and 4th is all grades. Very limited numbers of books are available for purchase through the business office starting June 3rd. There is no pick-up for friends or siblings.
- As we move toward the end of the school year, this is an exciting time for students. Warmer weather, celebrations, and traditions often bring opportunities for fun and connection. At the same time, it is important that everyone continues to make thoughtful and responsible choices that keep our school community, and the broader public safe. We have become aware of students organizing games involving water guns. While we understand the intention may be harmless fun, there are important safety expectations that must be understood.
- No Water Guns at School or During School. Water guns of any kind are not permitted in the school or anywhere on school grounds or during the school day – which includes parking lots. This includes before school, during lunch, after school, and at any school-related activity or event. Bringing water guns to school creates safety concerns and can cause unnecessary alarm for students, staff, and community members.
- Please make sure that your grade 12 student’s mailing address is correct in your myCBE account as that is where their diploma’s will be mailed. It is very important that your student is connected to Alberta Education’s myPASS for them to view their academic records and diploma exam marks. Any Student’s over 18 should make sure that they have set up their Independent myCBE account using a personal e-mail and do a demographic verification if their address has changed.
Diploma Exam Information
- All diploma exams at LBHS will be on the digital platform. Students have been given exposure to this platform through their courses. They can also access practice tests on the following site: https://abed.vretta.com/#/en/public-practice
- Students should review their exam schedule and ensure that they are at the school 30 minutes prior to their writing time. The exam schedule is posted on our website, as well as at the Alberta Education Site under Diploma Exam Schedules 2025-26. All Exams begin at 9:00 a.m., so they should be at the school for 8:30 a.m.
- Students must present a valid picture ID to the exam supervisors.
- Students are expected to arrive on time for the 9:00 a.m. start. After the exam begins, staff will call those who have not shown up on time to ensure they are aware that the exam has started. Those arriving late must do so prior to 10:00 or they will not be permitted in the exam.
- Students writing the exam must remain in the exam room until 10:00, no early exits.
- Students must not bring personal items into the exam rooms. We have a coat check set up in the Culinary classroom where students can drop off their belongings while they write the exam. There is usually a line up for this service, so it is recommended that students arrive early to use this service or come only with what they need to write the exam.
- Students may not have cell phones, smart watches, smart glasses, or any other electronics in the exam room. The exception would be for approved and checked calculators for the Sciences and Mathematics exams, and they will be checked prior to room entry. EARBUDS will not be permitted.
- Clear, see-through water bottles will be permitted but must be stored on the floor next to the desk to prevent spills on the computers, with no stickers, labels or writing on them.
- Students must write both part A and part B of the English and Social diploma exams to receive a final grade.
- Students must have a MyPass account to receive their grades in the months following the exam. They will not be sent to their CBE account, which closes upon graduation from LBHS.
- Academic irregularities during diploma exams will be reported to the LBHS administration. LBHS administration will investigate and submit a report to Alberta Education. Alberta Education will made a final decision to either award or not award a score on the exam.
